Electric vehicle charge point supplier EVOLT has worked with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council) in creating an EV charging network across the Outer Hebrides.
The project includes 11 brand new charge points installed across the Isles of Lewis and Harris, North Uist, South Uist and Barra, which make up most of the Council’s remit. The new chargers add to the existing Evolt network installed at the ferry ports throughout the Western Isles.
The expansion will include three rapid chargers that can charge most EV’s to 80 percent capacity in around 30 minutes. These are supplemented by three 22kW fast chargers which take an hour to charge an EV; and five 7kW street chargers that complete the Islands’ set-up.
Working closely with Car Hire Hebrides and Zero Carbon Marine, we have placed a fleet of fully electric vehicles around Stornoway, including new Renault ZOE hatchbacks and one Renault Kangoo ZE, both of which can be hired whether you need them for an hour, a day or week.
With a range of 70-90 miles on a single charge & free access to all the charging points across Stornoway. E-Car provides an environmentally-friendly solution for any journey from local shopping trips and domestic errands, to weekends away exploring the picturesque landscapes Stornoway has to offer.
