In April 2015, E-Car Club deployed ten vehicles into St Andrew’s University, Fife – our biggest ever single deployment of vehicles and first ever in Scotland.
The fleet available consists of 8x Renault ZOE and 2x Renault Kangoo Maxi’s and was launched in collaboration with the University of St Andrews and has been supported by Transport Scotland and Carplus via the ‘Development of car clubs in Scotland’ fund.
The vehicles aren’t just for students, and are available for members of the whole community to use.
Furthermore, due to funding from Transport Scotland, this allowed a reduced rate of £4.50 per hour (£35 for 24 hours) for any of the 8 Renault ZOE, and just £6.50 per hour (£50 per day) for the 2 Renault Kangoo vans.
Scottish Minister for Transport and Islands, Derek Mackay said: “It is really exciting to see the nation’s first all EV car club in launch in St Andrews, funded in part by the £1 million announced last summer for EVs in car clubs through the ‘Developing Car Clubs in Scotland’ programme.
“The Scottish Government is committed to achieving the target of almost total decarbonisation of road transport by 2050 because of the numerous benefits this will bring. This community based project will also help improve air quality in this popular tourist town while encouraging more use of EVs in general.
“I wish the new car club success in the future and look forward to more clubs following this example of good practice.”
