Why we created an app
The E-Car app was developed to be both pleasing on the eye and very intuitive, the app enables us to actively monitor charge data more efficiently, which allows us to increase vehicle availability across the fleet.
As part of the new app, members have the ability to manage and book E-Car’s on the go. The app also features some useful new tools, such as remote unlocking and locking vehicles straight from your mobile device.
How to use the E-Car app
How to make a booking
With our brand new app, you are able to book an E-Car in as little as 3-steps:
- Enter your location, select your start & end date and times.
- Choose one of our brand new electric vehicles
- Check all your booking details are correct, and away you go!

Unlock your vehicle
You can use the E-Car app, to unlock the E-Car at the beginning of your booking. To begin, select the ‘My Bookings’ tab on the home screen, then tap the ‘Current’ bookings tab. Next, tap the ‘Start’ button in the bottom right hand side of the screen.
Select ‘Unlock Vehicle’ and enter your 4-digit PIN number.
Please be aware the unlock function on the app is time sensitive and will only work during your reservation times.
Lock your vehicle
You can use the E-Car app, to lock the E-Car at the end of your booking. To begin, select the ‘My Bookings’ tab on the home screen, then tap the ‘Current’ bookings tab. Next, tap the ‘End’ button in the bottom right hand side of the screen.
Select ‘Lock Vehicle’ and enter your 4-digit PIN number.
Please be aware the lock function on the app is time sensitive and will only work during your reservation times.
When using the app to unlock a vehicle, please remember to be patient. The technology used is similar to sending and receiving a text message.
When you send a signal to unlock your E-Car, it’s sent to our servers that check to see if you have an active reservation in that vehicle. Once confirmed, the signal is sent back to the vehicle, and the doors will unlock.
As with any text messages, these can get delayed, so please give it time before sending another unlock request. The more requests you send to the server, the longer the car will take to unlock.
Switch easily between your computer, smartphone and tablet. Simply sign in to your E-Car Club account and we’ll sync your previous searches, stored credit cards and lots more. Pick up where you left off – on any device.

Our app gives you the flexibility to explore the UK. Find a car to hire at your nearest E-Car hub, add a day or two if you would like to extend your booking, or cancel a booking if plans change. Be as free as the open road.
